Norwood’s two-time team captain. Crimmins led the powerful Bay State League with a .590 batting average. He had five homers and 28 RBI, leading Norwood to an 18-2 record and a share of the league title with Braintree.
A two-time league all-star, Crimmins is a returner to the Ledger all-scholastic to the team. He sports a career average of .470 with 20 homers and 88 RBI.
Just two weeks ago, Crimmins signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox. He is currently on an extended spring training program in Winter Haven and will be assigned to the Gulf Coast Rookie League or Elmira of the New York-Penn League.
The Mustangs team MVP, Cloherty was a two-way performer for the co-champs of the Bay State League. He batted .502 with four home runs and 28 RBI. He also finished with a pitching record of 7-1.
“He did it all for us,” said coach Pete Wall.
Cloherty tossed a three-hitter in a shutout over Walpole and blasted a three run homer in a game with Braintree. An honor roll student, he has been a two-year varsity player and is a member of the Norwood Legion squad. Cloherty also played basketball in his junior year.
He is headed to Bridgewater State College where he will major in management science and play baseball.
Putnam led the Bay State League in home runs with six and finished with a .460 average for the Mustangs.
He had two home runs in the second game against Braintree. In a game against Walpole, he was 2 for 4 and homered in a 9-8 loss. He led the league with 30 RBI.
A three-year varsity baseball player, Putnam played three seasons of varsity football at quarterback and earned All-Scholastic honors as a senior. He is a member of Norwood’s Peer Education group and is an honor roll student.
He also plays for the Norwood American Legion team.
Putnam is headed to U-Rhode Island.
