Francis C. Foley, 58, a prominent legal and civic figure in Norwood residing at 16 Shattuck Park Road, passed away yesterday at Norwood Hospital following a long illness.
Distinguished Civic and Legal Career
Mr. Foley dedicated decades of public service to the Town of Norwood, notably serving concurrently as town counsel and town moderator for approximately 15 years. Prior to his election as moderator, he was an active member and chairman of the Norwood Finance Commission, playing a vital role in local municipal governance and financial oversight.
Professionally and socially, Mr. Foley maintained deep roots in the community. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Norfolk County Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus, St. Catherine’s Holy Name Society, and the Norwood Lodge of Elks.
Survivors and Funeral Arrangements
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Rose (Carven) Foley; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Flanagan of Bridgeport, Conn., and Miss Brenda Foley of Norwood; a brother, Thomas Foley of Norwood; and a grandson, John Patrick Flanagan of Bridgeport, Conn.
A solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, with burial following in Highland Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held today and tomorrow from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Gillooly Funeral Home, located at 126 Walpole Street.
