On August 25, 1955, preparations were underway for a major political gala hosted by the Norwood Young Republican Club. The upcoming Republican Celebrity Dinner, scheduled for September 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Holman Hall, was designed to kick off the political season and draw party members from Norwood and eight neighboring communities: Westwood, Foxboro, Wellesley, Dedham, Needham, Walpole, Sharon, and Canton.
Featured guest speakers for the evening included prominent state leaders: Lieutenant Governor Sumner Whittier, Governor’s Councillor Charles Gabriel, Senator Leslie Cutler, and Representative Charles Gibbons. Club President Herbert Ham noted that the gathering aimed to connect local members with distinguished political figures while fostering regional networking among young Republicans.
