Welcome to our Norwood Then & Now project! Each week, we’ll post a “then” photo of a location or building in Norwood. We’re asking the public to send us photos of the same location, either from your collection through the years or new photos you’ve taken today. Our goal is to capture the changes different areas in Norwood have undergone over the years. Each photo will be added to our archive with credit to you, We’ll share the “Then & Now” photos on our social media.
This postcard of the Morrill Memorial Library shows the building before the addition was built in front along Walpole Street. Next to the library, where the medical building is today, was the First Congregational Church. It moved across to Winter Street in the early 1960’s. Behind the library was the Beacon School, which served as Norwood’s first dedicated High school and later a grammar school. To learn more about the Beacon School, click here.
Share your “now” photos of the library (photos through the years or today) with us here:
or email them to us at info@norwoodhistoricalsociety.org
