Norwood Theatre Workshop Recruits Actors for Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”-September 14, 1974

Seeking to expand its roster beyond its initial younger members, the Norwood Theatre Workshop has launched an open casting call for aspiring actors and actresses of all ages—ranging from teenagers to older adults—to stage a Thanksgiving-season production of Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery, “The Mousetrap.”

Fall Production Plans and Audition Schedule

Director Kenneth Sullivan announced that the community theatre group is especially eager to recruit male actors over the age of 30 to round out the cast for what he described as “a classic whodunit.”

Auditions have been scheduled across two separate dates and locations:

• Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Temple Shaare Tefilah on Nichols Street.
• Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in St. Catherine’s auditorium.

In addition to actors, the workshop is actively seeking local residents to fill behind-the-scenes production staff roles. The enterprise first emerged in March with a well-received staging of “Story Theatre”—a lighthearted collection of skits adapted from Grimm’s Fairy Tales and Aesop’s Fables. Initially seeded with financial backing from Pulse, the local hotline organization, the company’s early ranks consisted primarily of participants in their late teens and twenties. “But we want to emphasize the workshop is for people of all ages,” Sullivan stressed.
