Westwood, seeking to reverse their fortunes after two earlier losses to Norwood that season, entered the matchup with a clear objective to prove their competitiveness against the league leaders. The game saw Westwood take an early 4-2 lead in the third inning, driven by a key single from Tom McCusker. After stealing second base and advancing to third on a wild pitch, Tom McCusker scored on a grounder by Ted Shea, extending the visitor’s advantage. Westwood continued to push, eventually securing a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning after an error by Norwood first baseman Jim Delbou allowed Tom McCusker to cross the plate. Westwood coach Tom McElroy reflected on his team’s aggressive play, stating, “Of course Norwood is an excellent club.
