Paul N. Sinesi of 23 Inverness road, Norwood, of Harbor Defense Division 1-1 which drills monthly at the U. S. Naval Reserve Training Center in Lynn, participated in Harbor Defense exercises at Fort Dawes on Deer Island from Aug. 5 to Aug. 19.
The defense of Boston Harbor is the primary mission of this Naval Reserve unit and the two week period encamped at the strategic command post leading into the inner harbor is part of their annual active duty training.
The entire unit operated alongside a mobile harbor defense team from the Little Creek Amphibious Base, Little Creek, Norfolk, Virginia, plus units of the U. S. Coast Guard. Lieutenent Sinesi’s’ primary duties are that of Training and Mine Countermeasures Officer.
