Charity Ball Proceeds Purchase Life-Saving Medical Equipment for Norwood Hospital
⠀
Following a highly successful and enjoyable annual Charity Ball, Charity Ball Chairman Doctor James Carolan proudly presented hospital administrator Mr. Charles Richardson with a check representing the net proceeds of the event. The funds were put to immediate use, purchasing vital medical equipment for Norwood Hospital, including two Westinghouse air conditioners for the labor rooms, five essential cardiac arrest kits, and an advanced defibrillator for the operating room.
While the air conditioners brought immediate comfort to expecting mothers, hospital officials highlighted the life-saving impact of the cardiac arrest equipment. The defibrillator—an electronic device designed to deliver electric impulses internally to stop heart fibrillation, utilized in an estimated 10% of all cardiac arrest cases—was perfected and purchased directly from the Electrodyne Company of Norwood. Additionally, the newly funded cardiac arrest kits strategically pre-positioned essential instruments and emergency drugs to shave off precious seconds during critical life-or-death resuscitations. Celebrating the community’s generosity, organizers noted how the success of the charity event created an enduring ripple of positive impacts for patients and medical staff alike.
