The Permanent Building Committee has voted unanimously to dispense with dedication ceremonies for the fieldstone cemetery garage which is nearing completion. The issue was raised by committee chairman Justin C. Barton. In opposing the ceremony, selectman Walter J. Dempsey asked, “Who would go to the dedication of a garage?”

Mr. Dempsey also suggested the committee forego putting a plaque on the $47,000 three-car garage, but a decision on this issue was deferred. The committee initially favored a less expensive metal garage, but was overruled by town meeting.
