Designed to Eliminate Traffic Tie-Ups And Lessen Accident Threat

Action by Norwood selectmen on Tuesday night has fixed Norwood bus stops on the main street and incorporated them in the traffic rules and regulations.

In preparing recommendations for the stops it was said four considerations were taken into account. First, was the space necessary for a bus to pull into the curb and to pull out again, and accurate information on this was furnished by the Eastern Massachusetts line; second was the right of bus passengers to as much consideration as parking motorists; third was the safety of pedestrians and automobile traffic, resulting in eliminating stopping in cross streets and holding up traffic at stop lights; and fourth was the O. D. T. and department of Public Utility orders that bus stop* shall be kept 600 feet apart,

Final determination of stops places stops on the easterly side of Washington Street, in front of the Guild Theatre, in front of Liggett’s Drug store; at the southwest corner of the green at the comer of Cottage and Washington Streets; in front of the waiting room, and in front of Clark’s Drug Store.

On the westerly side of Washington Street going toward East Walpole they will be in front of the Chevrolet garage between Railroad Avenue and Naha tan street, in front of St. Catherine’s Church; behind the taxi stand at Cottage and Washington Street, taking up all the space to the alleyway; in front of the Alice Shop, and at Guild Square by the Christian Science Church.

In addition, it has been determined that a stop will be allowed by the Municipal Building for school children only.
