John P. Piccirilli, a 34-year-old mathematics educator and resident of 77 Broad Street in Walpole, has been appointed as the acting vice principal of Norwood High School for the upcoming school year. The appointment, announced yesterday by Superintendent Dr. Philip O. Coakley, follows the selection of the school’s permanent vice principal, John Monbouquette, to serve as the high school’s acting principal for the next twelve months. Piccirilli was selected by the School Committee during an executive session held Thursday night.

Piccirilli brings six years of experience as an advanced mathematics teacher at Norwood High School to his new administrative role. In his capacity as vice principal, he will oversee critical school operations, including student discipline, teacher orientation, and the management of curriculum and programming. To facilitate his transition into administration, Piccirilli will step down from his previous teaching duties as well as his roles as assistant cross-country and baseball coach—a move that concludes a dual-career tenure that had previously garnered him an additional $500 stipend.
