James Savage Named Vice Principal as Junior High Administrative Structure is Reorganized
During an executive session held last night, the Norwood School Committee officially appointed James Savage, 36, of 68 Woodlawn Circle, Marshfield, as the new vice principal of Norwood Junior High School. Savage, a dedicated educator who joined the Norwood public school system in 1958, most recently served as head of the junior high school’s mathematics department.
The appointment marks a significant administrative restructuring within the school. Previously, the vice principalship was combined with the duties of the dean of girls—a dual role held for 40 years of distinguished service by Miss Mildred O’Donnell, who retired last July. According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Philip O. Coakley, the combined title has now been permanently terminated, allowing the vice principal’s role to focus entirely on administrative responsibilities moving forward. Salary details for Savage’s new position were left pending.
