Chief David Hayes on his retirement in February of 2023.

The Town of Norwood and the members of the Norwood Fire Department thank him for his years of service to the town of Norwood.

Chief Hayes’ career at the Norwood Fire Department began on August 31, 1989 after serving in the Airforce and Navy as a firefighter during the 1970’s and 80’s. He worked in Norwood as a Firefighter/EMT until his promotion in 2011 to Lieutenant of Group 4. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in January of 2020 and then finally Chief on September 1, 2021. As Chief, David Hayes was instrumental in procuring numerous technological advances department-wide as well as incorporating them into day-to-day operations both as a benefit to the town and firefighter’s safety.

On behalf of the Norwood Fire Department we would like to wish Chief Hayes a happy and healthy retirement.
