Judi Hershman Establishes Hershman’s Graphic Design at 252 Washington Street

For five-year-old Harvey, a sedate basset hound, sitting by the workbench means offering all the soulful support a hound can muster—especially since his owner, Judi Hershman, has launched him on a budding modeling career. Harvey recently appeared in a Jordan Marsh advertisement for Hush Puppies, and with a little correspondence penned with Judi’s help to corporate headquarters, he secured glowing encouragement for future modeling work, pending further obedience training.

While Harvey contemplates his canine modeling prospects, Judi is carving out an independent path as a dynamic graphic designer and advertising consultant. Operating as Hershman’s Graphic Design at 252 Washington Street, Judi brings extensive professional background to her new venture, having previously spent three and a half years at SGM and Co., a Quincy advertising agency, and two years as assistant art director at Wanner Advertising Agency in Boston.

A Local Background Rooted in Norwood and the Arts

Judi’s design expertise is built on a strong educational and artistic foundation. While a junior majoring in advertising design at the Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts, she won the MBTA subway mural contest, resulting in her striking mural of two Red Sox tickets being permanently displayed in the Kenmore subway station.

A lifelong Norwood local, Judi was born to community figures Dr. and Mrs. Max Hershman. Her father, a prominent local optometrist, served as chairman of the town’s Fourth of July committee for 14 years, and her parents helped found the Norwood Parents Music Association. A 1967 graduate of Norwood High School—where she played in the high school band—Judi remains actively involved in town life, playing recreation department softball, tennis, and racquetball when time permits.

Expanding Client Portfolio and Comprehensive Advertising Services

Since launching her studio two months ago, Judi has rapidly built a diverse client roster. Her current projects include designing a corporate brochure for Video Entertainment Centers of Dedham, creating letterheads and business cards for Tile Fashions of Norwood, producing collateral work for Beacon Films (operating in Norwood and Toronto), and taking on design assignments for the Norwood Airport.

Offering comprehensive advertising solutions ranging from concept, layout, photography, and copywriting to media placement across television, radio, magazines, and newspapers, Judi specializes in corporate programs, brochures, annual reports, catalogs, and in-house publications. “I feel there are real advantages in having an ad agency to service industries and businesses in their own locale,” Judi observed. “I like the variety and the challenge that goes with it. I’m enthusiastic about the future.” Looking across her workbench at her faithful companion, she smiled and added, “Harvey is, too.”
