The Norwood Fire Department’s Engine No. 3 is scheduled to be towed to Continental Fire Trucks Inc. of Hopkinton today to undergo major rehabilitation.
Long-Awaited Apparatus Rehabilitation
The 1966 pumper is one of two municipal fire engines slated for complete rehabilitation under an appropriation authorized by town meeting in 1978. At that time, town meeting voted $85,000 to overhaul the two apparatuses, overriding recommendations from the Finance Commission that new fire engines be purchased instead.
According to Equipment Officer Lt. Robert Molloy, the extensive rehabilitation work on Engine No. 3 will keep the apparatus out of service for two to three months.
