A Walk Around the Park: Walking Tour of the Old Winslow Neighborhood

Join us on Saturday, September 16 at 3 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church for a tour of the “Old Winslow Neighborhood”. The rain date will be the following Saturday, September 23rd at 3 p.m.

This area around Disabled American Veterans Memorial Park on Chapel Street is technically part of Swedeville but was not covered in detail during our Swedeveille tour last year.

The tour will be hosted by Norwood Historical Society Board member Laurie Kearney and Irene Ingemi and will include the Grace Episcopal Church, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and the Trinity Community Church. There’s a possibility of brief tours inside some or all of the churches (details are still being worked out but stay tuned to this event for updates).

The tour will also cover Winslow Park (previously American Soldiers of Foreign Wars Memorial Park, now Disabled American Veterans Memorial Park), two houses on Berwick Place, two houses on Fisher Street, and two houses on Walpole Street, including the historic Oak View Mansion at 289 Walpole street, before returning to Grace Episcopal Church.
