David W. Wall Enters Oct. 24 Special Election Race for Father’s Late Seat on Board of Selectmen-September 14, 1978

Seeking to carry forward his late father’s civic legacy, David W. Wall, 22, announced his candidacy yesterday for the Board of Selectmen seat in the October 24 special election left vacant by the August 24 death of his father, longtime Selectman Joseph W. Wall.

Continuing a Family Legacy of Public Service

Entering the political arena for the first time, Wall acknowledged his youth but expressed total confidence in his ability to serve. “I realize I’m young, but I don’t know anyone more qualified to fill my father’s seat. I know what he wanted to do and I would like to carry on,” Wall stated.

A lifelong resident living on Azalea Drive, Wall graduated from Norwood High School and Massasoit Community College, and attended North Adams State College before pursuing training in the building and remodeling trade. He is currently employed by South End Hardware in South Norwood, remodeling company-owned apartments with eventual aspirations of establishing his own enterprise. Wall highlighted the immediate appointment of a permanent fire chief and advocating for senior citizen concerns—two core priorities championed by his late father—as foundational pillars of his municipal platform.
