Mrs Esther Deeb, Cedar Street, had word on Wednesday evening that her son. Cpl. Fred Deeb of the Marine Corps had been killed in a motor vehicle accident in the South Pacific.

Cpl. Deeb would have been twenty-one on next Monday, March 5.

Sworn into the Marines in ceremonies on the stage of the Metropolitan theatre, Boston, Cpl. Deeb trained at Parris Island. He left for overseas duty a couple of months ago and in a recent letter to his mother said that he had participated in the Marshalls invasion and in engagements on two other islands. He sent home some Japanese paper money taken from a dead Japanese soldier.

His mother had had a letter earlier this week saying that he was on an island in the Hawaiian group waiting for his next assignment.
