Clifford B. Sanborn

Clifford B. Sanborn, who was nominated yesterday by Gov Coolidge to be presiding Justice of the District Court of Northern Norfolk, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge Emery Grover, is a native of this town. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1896 and at the Harvard Law School in 1899. Since then he has practiced law In Norwood, associated in the firm of Sanborn & Squires since 1904.

Mr. Sanborn was a member of the Norwood School Board from 1900 to 1907, and chairman for five years; moderator from 1904 to the present year, when he declined another term; on the Norwood Sewer Board four years; chairman of the first Finance Commission of the town; Representative to the Legislature 1913-14 from the district comprising Norwood and Walpole; an ex-president of the Norwood Board of Trade, and enrolled in Orient Lodge of Masons.

Since 1907 he has been clerk of the District Court of Northern Norfolk. He is married and has twin daughters. He Is very popular and highly esteemed In Norwood and nearby towns, and much gratification is felt at his appointment. Francis J. Squires, who was nominated as clerk of the District Court of Northern Norfolk to succeed Mr. Sanborn has been assistant clerk 13 years.

He is a native of Norwood, a graduate of the Norwood High School and Boston University Law School in 1962. He has been associated with Mr. Sanborn in his law firm since 1901. He has a host of friends in town who regard his promotion with much satisfaction.
