William (Bill) Carrabino, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Carrabino of 52 Saunders road, will captain this year’s Norwood High baseball entry in the Bay State Baseball League.
Bill will again be patrolling left field for the locals as he did last year. He is a left-hander all the way and possesses one of the best throwing arms in the league. Last year he batted over 300. This will be his third year playing baseball at the hill.
Going back a few months to the football season, everyone who followed the Hilltoppers’ gridiron fortunes would find Bill as one of the best backs in the state, although his talents went somewhat unnoticed on a sub-par team. He was the leading ground gainer on the team and also was a fine defense back. Many times he would break on long runs, only to be the victim of poor blocking.
Bill was a Little League All-Star and his biggest sports thrill came when he belted a grand slam home run to beat Fall River for the Norwood All-Stars.
Norwood Baseball Coach John Poce says of him: “Bill should lead the team to a fine season with his great team play and all around talent.”
