Cardinals, White Sox Meet Saturday For LL Pennant-This Day in Norwood History-July 5, 1962

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPS — The Sox team won the championship in the Norwood Little American division.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPS — The Cardinals copped the title in the Norwood Little League National circuit.

The Boch Rambler Cardinals, National League champs, and the White Sox, winners of the American League race, will meet for the Norwood Little League
championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Mason-Neilan Field.

The Cards are managed by Nick Ferrara and coached by Tom Wenzell and Al Kent. The White Sox are under the direction of Charlie Saraca and coached by Pete Didick. Both teams have ace pitchers, with Joe Giampa, White Sox top hurler, and Harry Pascoe of the Cards both undefeated in league play. The White Sox seem to have more power, with Russ Mike’s five homers and Joe Gugliotta’s four. , However, the Cards ‘ have plenty of depth, with seven batters hitting over .300. Leading Card batters are Larry Cowell, Trip Knhaug, and Moocliy Machado.

The White Sox have an excellent double-play combination in Joe Gugliotta and Russ Mike. The Cards have great fielders In Cowell at short and Dan McQuaid at first. All in all, it appears to be a toss-up, with the burden on the shoulders of pitchers Pascoe and Giampa. Congratulations go to Managers Ferrara and Saraca, both of whom won their league championships for the first time. Let’s have a good crowd at the field Saturday to watch the Norwood Little League championship game.
