The transformation of Babel’s from a small wallpaper store in the 1950’s to the full-service, full-scale decorating center it is today accelerated dramatically over the past four years. In the midst of New England’s recession, Victor Babel, the second-generation owner, had a vision of what his retail store should look like, and expanded the building, hired a professional store designer, Pam Martell, to layout the interior space.

Together they created, within the 10,000 square foot space, an outstanding paint and decorating store. Visual experiences at every turn, from the bi-plane hanging from the ceiling with Bugs Bunny at the wheel, or the giant paint can with dripping blue paint which is the center for the custom mix area, or the intimate round room complete with chandelier to peruse wallpaper books.
