Operating as a distributor for Leading Edge World Trade, a Norwood-based enterprise aptly named Amazing Things Inc. is making waves by marketing a diverse array of innovative and unconventional products.
Defining an “amazing” product with a broad brush, company spokesman Paul Lazarovich explained, “It may be something the consumer has never seen before that is interesting, fascinating and serves a useful purpose. The kind of thing you look at and say, ‘That’s amazing. Why didn’t somebody think of that before?'”
The Flagship Offering: The Amazing Things Modem
Among the firm’s initial product rollouts is a piece of computer hardware designed to let computers communicate over telephone lines: the Amazing Things Modem. Highlighting the company’s competitive pricing and reliability, Lazarovich noted:
- 1200 Baud Model: Retailing at $149.95 and backed by a 24-month warranty.
- 2400 Baud Model: Retailing at $289.00 and similarly backed by a two-year warranty.
Reflecting on the broader cultural and technological shift of the era, Lazarovich emphasized that the company’s vision extends beyond computer electronics into general consumer goods. “Technology has allowed us to live in an amazing time,” he said. “We can use a computer to write a letter, send it via modem across the country, record a TV program on our VCR even when we’re not at home, talk on the telephone while we’re driving a car.”
Distribution Strategy
Amazing Things Inc. plans to distribute its catalog through a dual-market approach, supplying traditional retail trade and merchants while also offering direct telephone sales for consumers looking to order products straight over the phone.
