Alan Welch, Boston University’s freshman hockey forward from Norwood, finished out the 1960-61 season with 13 goals and 15 assists in 15 games to pace the Terrier Pups to an impressive 10-4-1 record.

The 6-2, 190-pounder wound up only two points behind the Terrier Pups’ leading scorer, potential All-American Ken Ross of Kapuskasing, Ontario.

“Al led our team in assists with 15, the majority of which he- got in the second half of the season,” said freshman coach Bob Crocker “He was undoubtedly the most improved player on the squad. He’s a very strong skater and I have no’ doubt that he’ll be a big help for the varsity team next season.”

In addition to his speed on skates, Welch’s principal assets are his “hustle, desire and determination” according to Crocker.

A year’s experience on the Varsity will give him the finesse he now lacks.

Welch played his high school hockey at Norwood High.
