ADA Renovation Update-August 2, 2021

Work is underway on a new ADA compliant ramp and bathroom to make the Day House more accessible to the public.

Step one is to remove this poured concrete, which was made to look like individual stone tiles. This area must be excavated to make space for the ramp.

The front door is several inches higher than the porch, which currently requires visitors to step up to enter the house.

The new ramp will be at the same height as the door, so an additional granite step will be needed to meet the new height of the porch.

A new bottom step will be added. Here you can see the existing granite steps, which are being relocated while the new bottom step is put in place.

You can see all of the progress on this project by visiting the main project page.

This work was made possible by funding provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, a program of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, administered through a collaborative arrangement between MassDevelopment and the Mass Cultural Council.
