A savings of $13.00 for every new street sign put up by the town is made possible by vote of the selectmen on Tuesday night, approving a new sign, a sample of which was shown to the Board by General Manager William C. Kendrick Signs previously used in the town have cost $6.85 for the sign and $11.00 for the post or a total of $17.85 A badly bent sign exhibited by the manager showed the effects of demolition by youngsters.
The new signs are somewhat smaller, would be placed on top of the post, with black lettering against an aluminum paint background.
Made by the State Department of Correction, the sign is, priced at $1.35, the post at $3 50, with the total cost for tlic unit $4.85, making the savings on the new unit $13.00.
