If you’ve ever seen the movie “A Christmas Story”, which has been televised on TNT and TBS on 24-hour rotation on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day since 1997, or if you have visited Walt Disney World’s “Carousel of Progress” in Florida’s Magic Kingdom, you have heard the voice of Jean Shepherd, who narrated both the film and the ride.
A Christmas Story” was loosely based on a book he had written about his childhood in Hammond, Indiana, but Shepherd’s main gig was on the radio.
Back in 1972, “Shep”, as he was known, appeared on WGBH-FM in Boston and recounted the story of the historic first automobile purchase made by Norwood’s own George H Morrill.
