General Manager Tony Mazzucco announced the appointment of Timothy Bailey, Jr. as the incoming fire chief on May 11, 2023.
Bailey will assume the responsibilities of fire chief, succeeding interim chief Jim Wright, on July 10, 2023.
General Manager Mazzucco expressed confidence in Bailey’s ability to excel in the position. With over 35 years of experience in the fire service, Chief Bailey brings a wealth of knowledge to the department.
Chief Bailey initiated his career at the Walpole Fire Department in 1986 as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Progressing to a full-time firefighter for the Town of Walpole the following year, he dedicated seven years to the role before advancing to lieutenant and subsequently captain.
In 2005, Bailey assumed the role of chief at the Walpole Fire Department, where he has served admirably for more than 17 years. Furthermore, he actively participates on the Board of Directors for the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts (FCAM).
Chief Bailey is a distinguished graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy and the National Fire Academy, having completed numerous fire training courses. Additionally, he holds an associate’s degree in fire science technology from Massasoit Community College.
