At the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Boston, on Sunday, three Boy Scouts of Troop 49, St. Catherine’s Parish received from Archbishop Cushing the Ad Altare Dei Cross, the highest Catholic award given to a Boy Scout. The recipients are Thomas Bowler, Thomas Mullane, and Thomas Foley.

The Ad Altare Dei Cross, the symbol of the Ad Altare Dei award, is a recognition which the Church gives to the Scout for advancement in the Spiritual content of the Scout program. It is a bronze cross suspended from a ribbon in papal and national colors under a bar pin bearing the inscription “Ad Altare Dei”.

Archbishop Cushing makes the award annually to First Class Scouts.

Thomas Bowler, 15 of 112 Winslow Avenue is a sophomore at Norwood High School. Thomas Mullane. 14 of 426 Prospect Street is a student in grade 8 at St. Catherine’s as is Thomas Foley, 15, of 28 Cleveland Street.
