Forum Group Sponsors Round-Table Program

Whether Norwood citizens will continue to support the present Town Manager form of government or turn to a system with a limited town meeting, or decide they have had enough of town meetings and vote to adopt Plan E will be settled tonight when the Norwood Forum Group holds a round-table discussion of town affairs in Memorial Hall. Activities will get underway at eight o’clock.

Labor unions, fraternal, political, civic and religious organizations are invited to send representatives to express their groups’ opinions. All interested citizens are cordially invited. Ambrose Kelly, Forum Moderator, said today.

“Tonight’s round-table discussion will be something new in Norwood.” said Kelly. “Anybody will have the right to express ideas pertinent to the subjects on the agenda, thus giving many of Norwood’s citizens a chance to compare their own opinions against their fellow townsmen.”

Any person who desires to discuss a subject may do so with no limit, provided his remarks directly involve the matter before the meeting. Kelly stated.

The order of business will be:

  1. Norwood’s present charter which was adopted in 1914.
  2. Amending of Norwood’s present charter to have a limited form of town meeting instead of the present open system.
  3. Plan. E which will give Norwood a brand-new system.
  4. Formation of Norwood Citizens Association.

The Norwood Forum Group hopes tonight’s meeting will establish a policy under which the town can work for whatever changes are deemed necessary.
