Band Prepares For First Public Concert

Norwood Brass Band, 1909

To the Editor of the Advertiser :

I notice that the Norwood Brass Band gives its first public concert May 25th and this impels me to say that it is to be hoped that the people of Norwood and vicinity will accord them a hearty reception and patronage, not only at the opening concert but throughout the season.

The Norwood Band is certainly an organization most creditable to the town and should receive hearty support in order that it may be encouraged to continue its good work and its existence. No town in the State has a better band or one more accommodating.

Owing to the stormy and threatening weather last season, almost every time they attempted to give a concert the results were very unsatisfactory, and everyone who recognizes the advantage of having so creditable a band in the town, and who enjoys good music, should help to make this season sufficiently prosperous to make up for the poor success of last.

Will it not be a good idea for the band to issue subscription season tickets, and then those who are unable to attend the concerts regularly could show their goodwill and their desire to assist by taking these tickets, and thereby guarantee the band, some reasonable reward for their efforts. I feel sure that there are enough public-spirited citizens in the town of Norwood who would subscribe for these tickets to ensure the success of the season.

Very truly yours.
