May Funeral Service Notes 32nd Birthday-This Day in Norwood History-May 10, 1954

This month May Funeral Service. 80 Nichols Street, Norwood, has its 32nd birthday. It was founded in 1922 by Ernest May, father of the present director. Ernest May served until his death in 1947.

His son, Winslow F. May, who had entered the firm in 1932, became director upon the death of his father. In 1940 Raymond C. Berry joined the May organization. He is the present assistant director.

The modem May Funeral Home has two large rooms on the main floor, plus a music room with an Everett Orgatron and the firm office. There are two additional family rooms on the second floor. The furnishings throughout are homelike. creating a restful atmosphere. Ample off-street parking is one of the features of the May Funeral Home, a mighty important one in this motor age. The preparation room and display room are in a separate building.

At all times a competent person is in charge at the May Funeral Home. A telephone call at any hour brings a prompt response.

Winslow F. May, a graduate of the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science & Embalming, is a licensed embalmer and funeral director. His associate, Mr. Berry, who is also a licensed embalmer and funeral director, was graduated from the Boston School of Embalming and Funeral Directing.

May Funeral Service holds membership in the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association which is affiliated with the National Funeral Directors Association. They will promptly arrange for service anywhere in the Nation.
