Registration At The Civic June 19-20

The Recreation Department announced today that swimming classes will be conducted this year for all non-swimmers and swimmers at Hawes Brook Pool. Non-swimmers may learn to swim and swimmers may improve their swimming.

Anyone who is seven years of age or older may sign up for swimming clashes which will be held mornings throughout the summer at the pool under the expert instruction of Miss Elizabeth Corcoran, who holds an Instructors Certificate from the American Red Cross. She will be assisted by the lifeguards at the pool.

There will be four classes hold daily Monday through Friday at the pool — Beginners, Intermediates, Swimmers, and Advanced Swimmers, and assignments to these classes will be made according to the individual’s swimming ability. After an individual has passed all requirements in one class, he will be advanced to the next class, receiving at the same time the appropriate Red Cross Certificate.

Later on in the season, Junior and Senior Lifesaving will be taught, with individuals successfully completing their courses and receiving Red Cross certificates.

Registration for the classes will be held on Monday and Tuesday. June 10th and 20th. from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Civic. All persons wishing to enroll In the classes must register on these dates, and no late registrations will be accepted. Persons registering will be notified by mail of the class to which they are assigned.
