Miss Agnes Curtin

The school board met last evening and appointed the following Norwood young ladies as teachers for the coming year: Miss Agnes Curtain, Miss Agnes Murphy, Miss Emma Niles, and Miss Annie Bigelow. It is understood that these young ladies will enter into some sort of an understanding that they will be subject to the same rules which apply in the selection of out-of-town teachers. If fitted for their positions they will retain them. If not, their resignations will be asked for.

The board desires to employ home teachers when it can, but it does not propose to retain home teachers simply because of local pressure. These four new teachers will be assigned to their positions for the next term later on by Superintendent Fuller.

The school board did a very popular thing in reelecting Miss Julia Danahy of Canton. Miss Danahy is a very bright and attractive young lady and is a normal graduate. She holds the affection and respect of her young pupils in a marked degree.

There is general regret at the resignation of Miss Mulcahey of the Balch and Miss Gertrude Wilcox of the eighth grade. Both ladies leave Hero to take better positions at higher salaries, Miss Mulcahey going to Somerville and Miss Wilcox to Newton. The remaining vacancies in the schools will be filled by Superintendent Fuller and he may not be ready to announce his full list till next September.
