Roberta, being only human after all, is hungry, so suggests that we start this week’s purchasing process with dinner at the Verne Inn. Mrs. Fisher, the charming hostess, ushers all her guests into the airy dining room and offers a menu with the most delicious luncheons for these summer days. Dinners, with daily specials as low as 40c, have that old-fashioned, home-cooked flavor that is so rare in any restaurant of the twentieth century. Then a hint to the businessmen: The waitresses are ever so attractive!

It might be well to stop in to Grant’s for one of those lovely raffia-weave sun hats that are so colorful and clever with adjustable chin straps. They still have a complete stock of children’s sunsuits and playsuits too. If you find your children’s supply is really inadequate, these are just the ones you are seeking. Grant’s is such a good all-purpose store that you’ll find any articles you may need for picnics or parties at your home. The hardware department displays a .striking array of glass tumblers, attractively designed with flowers, peasant figures, or simple stripes. There are different, white enameled serving racks to make your hostess work easier.
For Fine Materials
The Norwood Fabric Shop is another place you might visit if you haven’t done so recently. During July they are closing out a lot of their present stock which, of course, means reduced prices on the best materials. Dress lengths, usually $1.98, are being sold for $1.39. Wash silks and spun rayons are among the fabrics, and you’ll be delighted with the variety of designs. Curtains are a specialty at the Fabric Shop, and if you cannot find just what you want among the regular stock, the experts at the shop will make delicate curtains or handsome drapes to fit your particular requirements.

The beauty shop continues to be a favorite rendezvous for smart women who know that summer raises havoc with their “personalities.” Hair, face, and hands are bound to show the effects of a week at the shore, so the Primrose Beauty Shop suggests a wave, facials, and a weekly manicure with Revlon nail enamel, to scare off the “ragged edges” of vacation voyages.
Probably you have all shopped at Allen’s before this. If so, you know that they carry the most complete line of cosmetics of any store in Norwood, and their regular cut-rate prices make every purchase a huge saving. Standard values at reduced rates are real attractions.
So, with shopping demands fulfilled and hunger appeased, we can start home, well satisfied with ourselves for another week.
