In 1952 the Norwood Arena became known as the home of the “Mad-Merry-Go-Round”, a race wherein each contestant had to pass over three ramps in the infield on every fourth lap. Just recently the North American Racing Association, sanctioning organization at Norwood Arena, introduced a new strictly stock NonFord division for novice drivers.

These novice drivers compete in the 20-lap Mad-Merry-Go-Round feature. Driving in this obstacle race trains the driver to control his car into the turns and to manipulate after passing over the 14” ramps. Champion Bomber drivers, Larry Antonellis, Quincy, fellow-townsman Leo Clean, Joe Rosenfield, E. Bridgewater, and Bob Sprague, Foxboro, started in this ramp race in 1952. Among the new novice drivers are: Joe Myett, Holbrook; Jack Aiguier, Winchester; Dave McEachern, Brockton; Tim Costello, Quincy, and Joe Cook, Bryantville.
