The Roll-Land Figure and Dance Club gave a good accounting of itself at the National Roller Skating Championships held last week in Portland, Oregon.
The highlight of the meet was the Senior Pairs event won by Diane Kern and David Tassinari of the Roll-Land Figure and Dance Club. The Novice Fours event was also captured by Norwood, featuring Nancy Lou Johnson, Michael Jacques, Linda Gay and Danny Gilmetti. There were two other events in which Norwood showed: in the Intermediate Pairs, Nancy Lou Johnson and Michael Jacques took third place; in the dance skating, Danny and Virginia Gilmetti, a brother and sister dance team from Roll-Land, took third place in the Intermediate division.
All in all, the Norwood skaters brought back six Gold Medals, four Bronze Medals and two trophies. The highlights of this meet will be shown on “Wide World of Sports” on Channel 7, Saturday, August 17, at 5:00 p. m.
On Friday, August 23, these same skaters and many others will be seen at Roll-Land. That is the night of the start of the fall season and the beginning of all activities; such as dance classes, club
sessions, Saturday morning and afternoon sessions. These afternoon and morning sessions will get under way right after Labor Day.
