Roll-Land Skaters this week captured the coveted Team Trophy at the National Championship at Lincoln Nebraska, bringing the award to Norwood and New England for the first time in history. Until now, the trophy has been kept year after year by mid-west teams.

The Roll-Land Club is now top club in the country with the most first places in the national meet, in which some 1300 skaters representing some 400 clubs, competed.

Highlights of the meet will be broadcast on the Wide World of Sports, Saturday, August 7th, at 5.00 p.m. on Channel 7.

Five first places were taken by local skaters; Free Dance, David Tassinari and partner Patricia Fogarty; Senior Pairs, Tassinari and partner Diane Kern; Michael Jacques and partner Nancy Lou Johnson.

Other first place winners were Tassinari, Miss Kern, Jaques and Miss Johnson in the Senior Fours; and sisters, Darleen Barile and Idalee, walked off with Junior and Juvenile Girls first place honors.
The Norwood Club took three second places with Michael Jaques and Nancy Lou Johnson in Senior Pairs; Jaques, Men’s Singles, and Jaques, a second place in Men’s Figures.

Two third places went to Miss Johnson in Senior Ladies Singles, and the Senior Pairs third place honors went to Alan Welch and Linda Gay.

Three fourth places were awarded to Diane Kern in Senior Ladies, Tessinari and Patricia Fogarty in Senior Dance; and Eddie Nelson took a fourth place in Junior Boys Singles.

Shirley Sanderson won sixth place in Intermediate Ladies, and a seventh place in Junior Boys Figures went to Ronnie Milton.

In Junior Boys Singles, Joey Desisto was awarded an eighth place with Darleen Barile taking an eighth place honors for Junior Girls Figures.

Following Labor Day, the regular full schedule of classes and public sessions will start at Roll-Land.
