Ideal setting for the Danom Forge and Fix-It Shop, where Thomas F Mahoney, proprietor, carefully and painstakingly turns out the most beautiful of hand wrought iron articles, is this century-and-a-half-old building at 123 Washington Street, East Walpole (Photo by Lou Cibotti)

What more than a hundred years ago might have been the village blacksmith’s shop, is utilized today by Thomas F. Mahoney for his establishment, the Danom Forge and Fix-it Shop.

Located at 123 Washington Stree, East Walpole, the Shop with its double doors swung wide, its sloping roof and weather-seasoned brown-stained shingles, is more than one of the most interesting and fascinating of East Walpole’s show places, for it is here at this quaint roadside building, that Mr. Mahoney creates beauty in iron.

He can make a wrought iron replica for you like any one of the scores he has on display, or he can create a beautiful piece of work from just a rough sketch.

Some of the hand-wrought articles displayed in front of his shop are: flower brackets, fireplace tools, cocktail tables, foot scrapers, hinges, shutter fasteners, door knockers, chairs, weather vanes of any size or design, fire tongs and fire screens. Mr. Mahoney will do fancy or plain work of any description.

“Tom” Mahoney also makes trailer hitches, coupling of all kinds, and does, shaping, welding and repairing.
