You have to get up pretty early in the morning to keep up with Pete Dixon, the valuable catcher-out-fielder of the Nitros.

The husky athlete hops out of the sack about 3 a.m. for work at the South Norwood Parcel Post Annex, and the beginning of a strenuous, 12-hour, daily grind.

He hotfoots around the office with co-workers Emil Ostrom, Ed Tomasello, and Jack Breen as they sort the heavy volume of parcel post mail for Norwood and 22 surrounding towns.

This work is done there as the sun rises, and he pitches in at the main office until 9 a.m. with Incoming mail.
Then he’s off on one of the 21 local routes as a letter carrier. This rigid routine is one way to stay in trim condition for the grid wars of the near future.

Dixon leaves Monday for Seattle, and a spot on the University of Washington football team, where he matriculates as a junior pre-law major.

His Nitro teammates always considered Pete a good man on their side in a fistic fray, but a career objective as a peaceful arbiter Is his life’s goal.
