The Edmund J. Shattuck School

The red brick walls of the new North schoolhouse can now be seen shining through the trees from almost any part of Christian Hill. It will rank just below the Morrill Library and the Day Chapel as the third finest public building in town.

The entire building is practically the work of local people. The contractor, Forrest M. Douglas, has done a good job, as have also the contractors for the brickwork, Spear & Smith.

It is the largest contract this popular firm has ever had in this town. The building contains 400,000 bricks, and all its brick and mason work can be relied on as first-class in every respect.

Spear & Smith have done business hero for some twelve years and have had much important work hero and in Walpole. They have lately been filling an important contract for F. W. Bird & Son.

The plumbing of the new schoolhouse will also be done by local parties. The North schoolhouse is a monument to Norwood labor and business enterprise. It is hoped that the building will be ready for occupancy by the second week in September.
