A 500-pound safe, which had been stolen from the offices of the Atlantic Woolen Company, Boston Sunday night was found abandoned by Norwoid police on Neponset street between East Cross and Dean streets, shortly before 7 o’clock Monday morning, the door having been forced and the contents strewn about the area.

Officer William F. Mullane noticed the safe while passing by in a cruising car.

A check with officials at the Woolen Company revealed that the safe contained no cash and that all its other contents, including fire insurance policies and bank books, had been recovered although strewn about the area where the safe was discarded.

Entrance to the company office, which is on the street floor, was made by prying open the door. The safe was apparently dragged right onto the street and into a waiting car Police found the door open about 1 o’clock
Boston police were here Monday checking for fingerprints and shoe imprints left near the abandoned safe.

This marked the third safe which had been stolen and discarded in this vicinity in recent weeks. Westwood and Canton also being used by safe thieves to desert their loot.
