Report on proposals of Dr. Frederick Cleveland that the town buy certain parcels of land to round out future playgrounds was submitted to Norwood selectmen on Tuesday night by General Manager Francis W. Smith. The Manager reported:
“Some years back, Dr. Cleveland deeded to the Town, a plot of land hounded roughly by Allen Road, Pleasant Street, and Lenox Avenue for playground purposes. Since that time, he has acquired the remaining land to round out this parcel. The three lots involved contain about 17,400 sq. ft. and are assessed at $700. Dr. Cleveland would like the town to make an offer.”
“The Hartshorne Swale playground is rather irregular in shape where it is bounded by the proposed Border Road. Dr. Cleveland now owns the two lots of land which, come between the playground property and the Road. He also owns a small parcel on East Cross Street next to the playground frontage on East Cross Street. These three parcels, he would like to sell to the Town and would like an offer. The land on East Cross Street is assessed for $150. The land bordering on the corner where Border Road joins East Cross Street is assessed at $50 and the interior piece on Border Road is assessed at $150.”
