The Fair committee of the Norwood Woman’s Club met recently at the historic Fred Holland Day House to complete plans for the club’s Christmas Fair to be held at Day House Friday, December 4 from 10.00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M for the benefit of the Norwood Historical Society.
Mrs. Richard Greene, chairman of the fair, and Mrs. Harvard W. Wilkinson, co-chairman, have announced that many useful and beautiful items will be displayed, including imports from Sweden and exquisite linen and lace articles recently received from Belgium.
Mrs George T. Mahoney, food and candy chairman, will offer an internationally famous fruit cake from Georgia, the same type of cake which was displayed at the Better S.iving Pavillion at the World’s Fair. Mrs William Allen and Mrs. Arnold Schaier have a splendid collection of the newest fashions in jewelry. Handmade Christmas decorations and candles, and other novelties will be shown by Mrs. Walter Cyran and Mrs. William M. Jones, Jr. Club members are contributing aprons and children’s items to the table of Mrs. Harvard W. Wilkinson and Mrs. Alfred F. Hutchings. Assisting Mrs. Greene at a special gift table will be Mrs. Frederick 0. Aspinwall, Miss Grace Beverly, Miss Agnes Hedberg and Mrs. Max Hersh-man. Specially ordered boxes of note paper will be offered with a vividly colored picture of either the Norwood Senior High School or Day House on each folded sheet. Mrs. Lawrence Scott and Mrs. George H. Wells, assisted by Mrs. John Bremer, club president, and Mrs. Freeman Chase, will maintain a snack bar for the convenience of shoppers.
Club members are reminded that contributions to the various tables will be accepted at the November 24 Coffee Hour.
Proceeds from the Christmas Fair will be contributed to the club’s Community Improvement project, the refurbishing of Day House. Owned by the Norwood Historical Society, the home serves as a central depository for recording the progress and growth of the community, being the only place where historical materials and records are preserved for the town. The committee is extending an invitation to all residents to participate in this effort.
