
Norwood’s contribution to the National Defense Effort is not a small one … it comprises of two well-trained, well-equipped units of the National Guard who make their home at the Norwood Armory.
These units, comprised mostly of veterans, may someday play an Important part in the Defense, not only of our Country, but also of our Town. They are kept on a constant alert, and are staffed by competent, battle-wise NCO’s and Officers, and their ranks are filling fast because of the high morale the units possess.
Posing ominously at the Armory Is one of Uncle Sam’s finest fighting bulwarks — the pride of the Tank Company — the M-47 Tank, mounted with a rugged 90 mm gun. Although there is but one . of these tanks now, more .are expected to bolster the Tank Company’s strength.
The Tank Company, not as old _to Norwood as its brother infantry Company, came to Norwood about three years ago. It boasts a near-perfect attendance record at drills, although many of the unit’s members are from all over Norfolk County. Commanded by Captain Edward F. Walsh of Quincy, the Tank Company won merit from Divisional Headquarters for their outstanding record It Camp Drum, N Y. on their annual two-week summer training

Company is one of the proudest, and best, in the U. S.
