The Norwood Irish Music Club has resumed activities for the season with festivities centered at Runeberg Hall.
There was an enthusiastic turnout at the gala re-opening1 night on September 12 when top talent in Irish entertainment was enjoyed. On display were medals and trophies won by the local performers at the 1964 Brockton Feis.
The club is particularly proud of its Ceili Band under the direction of Mike McDonagh, which won first prize against formidable competition from Boston, New York and Connecticut.
Many special guests dropped in to extend greetings, among them Mr. and Mrs. David Ahearn, Mr. and Mrs. Francis X. Ahearn, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cavanaugh.
A great many Irish dancers in costume were on hand to contribute to the evening’s entertainment and help assure the success of this first program of the new season.
The club meets at Runeberg Hall on the second and fourth Saturday night of every month and everyone who likes Irish music and dancing is welcome to attend. Officers will be nominated the first meeting in Ocober and all members are asked to be present at that time.

I am searching for a March composed by E. De Regge and adapted for the Garda Siochana Band by its director Joachim Moloney in 1953. That band played in Madison Square Garden and other venues in NY and Canada in September of 1964. That Dalcassian March, also known as March of the Band of the Southern Command, or by another name. Apparently the march included selections of many well-known operas. Any suggestions on locating a copy or a recording of this March would be most appreciated.
