The Planning Board will meet with the Board of Selectmen next Thursday evening. October 14. to discuss making Central Street a one-way street from Cottage all the way to Guild Street.
In connection with this recommendation by the Planning Board Police Chief Thomas C. Lydon has stated that he prefers that the street be left one-way from Cottage to Day Streets. In a letter to General Manager Edward C., Monahan, he explained this recommendation, stating:
“I recommend that Central Street be left a one-way street from Cottage Street to Day Street, for the following reasons, first, it gives the operators of automobiles a chance to enter the Guild School lot from Guild Street for parking purposes and also it allows persons living on Park street to enter with then automobiles from Central Street and it gives free access to Day Street from either direction allowing people to park their automobiles on Day street, Central Street and Guild Street for shopping and other business.
At last Tuesday nights meeting of the Selectmen the matter was discussed at some length with the final decision to be made following next Thursday nights meeting with the Planning Board.
