When Norwood Camp Fire Girls held their annual meeting last Monday evening, it was one of the big Camp Fire events of the year, with 125 people filling Holman Hall for a chicken dinner They were Camp Fire Girls, Blue Birds, their mothers and fathers, group leaders, and members of the executive board.

To open the meeting, Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls went through their candle-lighting ceremonies. Camp Fire Girl Susan Crawford then introduced the officers of the Norwood District Council and the two representatives from Boston, Miss Sylvia Koose, from Boston Camp Fire Headquarters, brought greetings from the Greater Boston Council, of which Norwood is a district. She spoke of the new birthday project. “Let Freedom “Ring, the motif for this year. She also urged girls to get their applications in early for Camp Kiwanis this summer. Miss Koose quoted one Camp Fire Girl who defined fun as follow’s “Fun is popcorn In your heart,” And she hoped the next year would bring as much fun to all Norwood Camp Fire Girls as the past year had.

During a brief business meeting that followed, the following council officers were elected for the year: president, Mrs. Theodore Crawford; Vice-President, Mrs. Alban Stitt; secretary, Mrs. Albert Nelson, and treasurer, Mrs. John Rizzo. Instead of the usual report from the council chairman, a member of each Camp Fire and Blue Bird group reported on one activity her group Had enjoyed during the past year Some of the activities were crafts, some involved cooking and baking, and some were services to others.

The girls sang “The Blue Bird Song” and “Wohelo,” the Camp Fire song; and Mrs. John Carey led several games in which the leaders and mothers joined their enthusiastic daughters.

With the Friendship Circle and the song “Sing Your Way Home,” the evening ended. It was a joy to watch the girls uniformed in red, white and navy blue entertaining their families with their delightful demonstrations. It was obvious that Mrs Crawford, in paying tribute to a most willing and energetic group of leaders, had been right in attributing most of the success of the present year’s Camp Fire and Blue Bird program to them.
