For the second time in 19 months, safe crackers entered the Sansone Motors, Inc., at 100 Broadway, Norwood, sometime last Thursday night or early Friday morning and after breaking open the safe made off with , about $1000 in cash.

Norwood and State police investigating the theft stated that they could find no visible means of entry into the building.

The theft was discovered by office workers on reporting for work Friday morning. Norwood police were called at 8:28 a. m. and informed of the break.

Sergeant James Lyden went to the. garage and found that the 5-foot tall safe had been battered and then pried open in what police term a “can opener job.” The safe which weighs 1200 pounds, is located in the office on the second floor of the garage. Tools taken from the garage workshop were used to batter and open the safe. Office records, check books and papers of the firm were strewn about the floor.

State Police Sergeants Daniel Desmond and Leo Martin were called into the case by the local police to seek fingerprints. A canvas glove used by the safe cracker was found among the debris in the office near the overturned and rifled safe.

On the morning of May 26, 1961, a similar burglarly was committed at the garage with the safe rifled of about $500 at that time. Norwood and State police are working in close corporation in an attempt to solve the crime.
