
Norwood Armory on Saturday was the scene of a tremendous flood of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers, Scout Leaders. Girl Scouts, and the general public to witness a display of Scouting ability in illustrating over 30 different countries of the world under the theme of “Scouts of the World, Brothers Together ” Over 5000 people participated in or visited the show.
The show opened at noon with 71 booths constructed of Walpole Woodworker rustic fencing filled with rosters, costumes, flags, products, and an endless array of materials from many countries of the world. There were exceptions in that there was a booth which represented the United Nations, one that showed the history of Scouting through the countries of the world, one Inch portrayed the 59 countries of the world which now have Scouting, and an excellent booth on the American Indian. The American Indian booth was presented by Troup 68 of the Wrentham State School and boys in full Indian Costume, which they personally made under the guidance of Scoutmaster Florian Beauregard, presented beautiful Dance routines every half hour to everyone’s pleasure and satisfaction.
Henry Kaminker from France and the Secretarial of the United Nations journeyed up from New York City as the guests of Troop 81 Stoughton, to visit the show, meet the Scout folk, and share In the international flavor.
Countries represented in the show were Oceania, Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Scotland, Japan, China, Italy, Canada, France, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden, Israel, Iran, Micronesia, Cuba, Philippines, Portugal, England, India, Brazil, Korea, Egypt, and Great Britain, as well as booths of the United Nations, Scouting the World, Scouting’s history, Girl Scouts of Walpole under the leadership of Mrs. Trickey.
There were three shows operating simultaneously, one each in the Norwood, Hingham, and Braintree Armories. Participation in the Norwood Section of Jam-borette, and their leaders, was as follows:
